About

I am one of the many  people who are bothered about the climate. My interest in matters green started with  bird-watching and was enhanced by 20 years of keeping bees. Having now two granddaughters  – who need a future – has put some urgency into matters.

Lots of people share these concerns. Many feel paralysed by the scale of the issue.  Many families are intermittently in dispute over what, if anything, could – should – must – be done.  The idea of this website is to help – to show the range of possibilities. Some things you can do straight away. Others need a bit of preparation – often, finding some info.  A few need money.  Some can only be done by government – so they need prodding (by us).

How many things should you do? The target number is n+1 where n is the number you have done already.

This site is undergoing evolution.

Me? I’m a retired polytechnic lecturer (economics) (Leeds)  who was for a year a guest prof in Germany and who decamped to Govt Economic Service in London for the last four years of work.  I have nearly always sketched,  drawn and painted as a hobby. Doing the graphics for the website took over my life for three months and more.  As a member of the Analog Society, I needed the assistance of  collaborators to create the site and – this was Gemma Bridge (in the photo!) – to launch it into the labyrinth of social media.  My thanks to them.

Fans of the tv series “The Last Kingdom” (Angles, Saxons and Danes …  Alfred the Great and all that) will spot the origin of the Shield Wall.
